a wealthy friends wife invited me to a 70th birthday party for her husband at a country club,cocktails and dinner.i am on retirement and a fixed income and not wealthy,but i do not want to appear cheap. once again what is required as a gift ? or is one not required>

Geeze, that’s not easy. If they didn’t say “no gifts,” then I would bring one. How about a photo of someone that she cares about?

Retirement community, dinner date to listen to local jazz musician. Semi-cold outside.

I say you should wear some pants and a long sleeve shirt and wear something else the next day that would let some on notice you,but not at a retirement community.lol.
