Question by The MobFather: Why do Dems suddenly become fiscally conservative when it comes to buying ID Cards for the poor?
Liberals will glady pay for your:
Health Care
Education
Transportation
Housing
Food
Cell Phones
Internet service
Abortions
Condoms
Retirement

But you tighten up that wallet when it comes to a $ 10 ID Cards so the “Disenfranchised” can vote.

Do you really think anyone believes your reasons not to have ID’s to vote? lol

So, they just let you walk in off the street and vote where you live?
Hopefully they dip your thumb in purple ink like they do in third world countries.

Question by Barefeet guy: Should I build up my savings or pay off my credit cards?
I have about 150$ in a savings account, about 3,000 in Credit card debt. The Car is paid for, only other debt is the house. I do have some money in a trust if I would get in major trouble but its really there for retirement. I have about 12,000 in a 401k(which were not touching of course).

I have 1800$ on one card, about 900$ on the other. How should I go about attacking this?

Question by Panamana Nate: If I pay off my credit cards, how much will it help my credit score?
If I pay off my credit card debt ($ 65,000) using money from my retirement, how much will it raise my credit score? Will it raise it enough so I will be able to refinance my mortgage?

Answer by Huntsman
I know this is a joke – but I’ll answer anyway.
Yes – you will see an amazing improment on your credit score.
Up to a 100 point increase – easily

You are not retired yet.
For one thing you can’t just take out money from a 401K while you are still employed
If you take a loan, the finance company will see this loan when they check right before giving you the mortgage
If you lose your job- this loan is immedately payable back
Or you can expect to pay over 40% in taxes and penalties.
The loan is payable back in only 5 years

Next time state your age and if your 401K is through your current employer.
You are making some serious, very serious financial mistakes here

Question by jesusconverse: How much are these Michael Jordan cards worth?
I’m wondering if some people could help me out… I recently found a collection of cards that I’ve had since 1998 or so… and can’t find how much they’re worth. Other than one site, I was wondering if anyone else could help me find out ANY information about them other than the site I found. Here’s what I have:

12 gold leaf basketball cards; Michael Jordan from his rookie year in 1985 till his first retirement in 1997; signed by him; Made by Upper Deck; with a holographic affect on each.

So, how much?

Question by Dragonfly girl ~ Haley is 1: Are thank you cards necessary for birthday party gifts?
I have always felt that thank you cards are proper etiquette for any party, whether it be baby shower, wedding shower, birthday party, graduation gifts, retirement gifts whatever. But I am shocked at some of the answers from one of my contacts questions. Some of them have said that it’s only necessary to thank the person to their face, but not send a card. I’ve always thanked the person in person and also sent a card later on…is our culture getting away from proper etiquette these days…I mean I can’t even get rsvp’s from people anymore?

I heartily agree with you. If someone took the time to look for a gift, wrap and present it, the least the receiver can do is to sit down and write a nice thank you note. Thanking someone ‘to their face’ is a beginning, but how about some effort and a hand-written note?

I have given gifts to nieces and nephews (some rather expensive, too) and received no thank you note at all. Some were wedding gifts (like handmade quilts!)

My rule now is- No thank you notes = no more gifts!

Pay off your credit cards!

The interest in them will overwhelm anything you might get on the market.

Question by bh90210fan: I owe money to credit cards and collection agencies, if I start a mutual fund or ira could they take that m?
I want to plan for retirement. I do owe money to credit card companies. So if I open an ira or mutual fund, can they get access to that money and take it?

Best answer:

Answer by macbeth00798
If they sue you, yes. By the way, if you incur a debt you should pay it. You bought things using their money, now you don’t pay them? If you have money to stick into retirement funds, you have money to pay your credit cards off. You should do that first.
